Summer Youth Programs Long Term Volunteer | Summer 2019
Location: Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation, South Dakota
Long-term volunteers will live at the Simply Smiles facility in the town of La Plant on the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation in South Dakota and work with the Simply Smiles staff to combat the abject poverty present there. Summer Youth Programs Long-Term Volunteers will be working to help create an oasis where children can enjoy their childhood in a safe and loving environment. Long-term volunteers will help week-long volunteers to implement Simply Smiles Summer Youth Programs in the most effective manner.
Minimum commitment of 6 weeks. This is an unpaid, long-term volunteer position.
Food Preparation Long-Term Volunteer | Summer 2019
Location: Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation, South Dakota
Simply Smiles is currently seeking a student with experience in the culinary or hospitality fields for a multi-week volunteer position to be involved in food preparation for Simply Smiles volunteers and for the Lakota community on the Reservation.
You will prepare food alongside Simply Smiles staff, short-term volunteers, as well as children and adults from the Reservation community.
You will have the unique opportunity to learn about traditional Lakota foods, be able to harvest produce from La Plant's organic garden and greenhouse, and help prepare traditional dishes for the Reservation community. You will help deepen the impact and scope of the food and healthy living programs on the Reservation.
Saturday, May 11th to Sunday, September 1st, 2019 (or a minimum of any six-week period within this timeframe). This is an unpaid, long-term volunteer position.
