Agustín 08/27/2007

Agustin came to Simply Smiles in June 2017. He lived three hours away from the city of Oaxaca. He is one of four siblings, which caused him to attend school once a week, but now he is able to attend every day.

He enjoys going to school so much that it’s the thing he looks forward to most when he wakes up. He desires to become a pilot when he grows up. Agustín is also interested in visiting China one day. His favorite color is black. He loves to play hide-and-seek and enjoys playing soccer with his friends. Agustín loves to eat hamburgers and his favorite dessert is cake. If he could grow anything in the garden at the children’s home, it would be red roses.

Belinda Garcia

Belinda arrived at Simply Smiles in August 2017. She lived in a village eight hours away from Oaxaca, in the middle of the mountains. She could not attend school because there was not enough students to open a school where she lived, forcing her to walk to another village to obtain some education. Now she has accomplished six years of study and is on her second year of middle school.

Belinda wants to be a dentist when she grows up. Her favorite subjects are ethics and civics. She dreams about finishing her studies and traveling to Italy or Paris. Her favorite sports are soccer and basket ball. Belinda’s favorite colors are red and blue. Her favorite foods are memelitas (Tortilla with beans and fresh cheese), tlayudas (a giant tortilla that can be treated as a pizza by adding toppings of your liking), pizza, and soup. If she could choose a superpower, it would be turn back time, or the ability to fly

Beto Diaz 07/23/2006

Beto arrive at Simply Smiles in June 2017. He lived two and half hours away from the city of Oaxaca. Beto, being one of four siblings was able to obtain some education. Now he is in 5th grade.

Beto’s favorite colors are red, yellow, and blue. He enjoys studying math and playing soccer. Beto wants to be an astronaut when he grows up. His favorite sport is baseball. Spending time with his friends makes him happy. Beto’s favorite food is pizza and his favorite dessert is chocolate cake. He would love to grow poinsettias in the garden at the children’s home. Beto hopes to visit the Unites States one day.

Damaris Diaz 11/21/2009

Damaris came into the lives of Simply Smiles in June 2017. She lived two and half hours away from the city of Oaxaca. Damaris is one in four siblings, and this impeded her to attend school. Now she is in third grade.

Damaris wants to be a lawyer when she grows up. She enjoys studying math. Going to the movies makes her happy. Damaris’s favorite foods are tamales and entomatadas (like an enchilada, but with chicken inside and an authentic tomato sauce drizzled on top). Her favorite dessert is vanilla ice cream. She loves to play tag and hide-and-seek with her friends. She hopes to visit California one day.

Emiliano 07/02/2009

Emiliano came into the lives of Simply Smiles in May 2016. He is one of eight siblings making it hard for him to have obtained any education before. Now he is in fourth grade.

He loves studying Natural Sciences and wants to be a military when he grows up. He would love to visit all of Mexico. He also enjoys playing hide-and-seek and his favorite sport is soccer. Emiliano’s favorite color is red. His favorite food are hamburgers and he loves chocolate cake as a dessert. Emiliano wishes to have Goku’s Strength as a super power. If he could grow anything in his garden it would be radishes and onion.

Felipe Diaz 10/08/2011

Felipe came into the lives of Simply Smiles in June 2017. He lived two and half hours away from the city of Oaxaca. He is the youngest of four siblings. Now he is in first grade.

Felipe enjoys studying math and wants to be a police officer when he grows up. He enjoys playing tag and his favorite sport is soccer. His favorite color is red. Felipe’s favorite food is spaghetti and for dessert he loves vanilla cake. He dreams with playing, and taking walks make him very happy. One day he hopes to visit China.

Jennifer 11/04/2006

Jennifer walked into the lives of Simply Smiles in August 2016. She walked a mile and a half to school and back. As she entered her village she would take a cab home for another hour.

Jennifer’s favorite subject is biology and when she grows up she wants to be a physiotherapist. Having great grades make her happy. Jennifer’s favorite color is blue. She loves to play hide-and-seek and loves soccer. Her favorite food is tlayudas (a giant tortilla that can be treated as a pizza) and for dessert she loves ice cream. She dreams of becoming a grown up and loves the start of a new day.

Fun fact# Jennifer would love to visit the Great Wall of China

Jennifer came into the lives of Simply Smiles in April 2017. She is finishing her last year in middle school ready to begin her first year in high school.

Jennifer desires to become a lawyer when she grows up. She enjoys playing soccer. Her favorite colors are red and black. Her favorite food is lasagna and loves eating strawberries with cream. Jennifer loves dreaming of traveling and meeting her siblings one day. Going to places she likes and being with her friends make her happy.

Marisela Hernandez 11/18/2012

Marisela arrived June 2017, into the lives of Simply Smile. She lived three hours away from the city of Oaxaca. She is one of four siblings. Marisela could only go to school once a week. Now she attends school everyday.

Her favorite subjects are Language Arts and Math. Marisela likes to play with her dolls. Her favorite color is green and she wants to become a spy when she grows up. Marisela loves playing soccer. Her favorite food is Tlayudas (a large, thin tortilla topped with beans, queso oaxaca, cabbage, avocado, and your choice of meats and sauces) and for dessert she loves limes. She would like to visit the United States one day.

Merari came into the lives of Simply Smiles in June 2017. She lived three hours away from the city of Oaxaca. She is one of four siblings and could only attend school once a week.

Merari wants to be a lawyer when she grows up. Her favorite colors are pink and purple. Her favorite sport is soccer. If she could have any super power it would be to dance and sing. Her favorite food is pizza and her favorite dessert is cake. Merari would like to visit New York one day. Going out and taking walks make her happy. If she could grow anything in her garden, it would be roses and different plants.

Misael came into the lives of Simply Smiles in June 2017. He lived three hours away from the city of Oaxaca. He is one of four siblings and could only attend school once a week.

Misael wants to be a doctor when he grows up. He loves the color blue. His favorite foods are meatballs and he loves cake for dessert. Optimus Prime is his favorite superhero and Misael hopes to visit the United States once day. If he could grow anything in his garden it would be white roses. If he had the chance to write a book it would be about a boy who slays a dragon.

Mitsuki 03/08/2008

Mitsuki came into the lives of Simply Smiles in June 2017. She lived two and half hours away from the city of Oaxaca. She is one of four sibling and was not able to attend school. Now she is in third grade.

Mitsuki enjoys studying math, Spanish, and history. When she grows up she wants to be a secretary. Mitsuki’s favorite colors are purple, white, and black. She loves playing tag and also hide-and-seek. Her favorite foods are memelitas (handmade tortillas and enfrijoladas (tortillas dipped in a bean sauce and topped with fresh cheese and/or cream, lettuce, onions). For dessert she like to have cake and frappes. Mitsuki’s favorite super hero’s are Barbie and Frozen. One day she hopes to visit United States.

Pedro Ruiz 06/29/2005

Pedro came into the lives of Simply Smiles in September 2016. He attends a Learning Disability Education school twice a week and is progressing in reading, writing, and socializing skills.

Pedro loves the color green. He wants to be a police officer when he grows up. His favorite sport is ponchado (like ball tag / dodgeball). Pedro loves to eat tacos and chocolate. He would love to visit America and he dreams of being a politician. If he could grow anything in the garden it would be pink flowers.
