Food Distribution “Fiestas”
There is a hierarchy of needs. Food is the first and most basic.
Our nearly monthly “Food Distribution Fiestas” are how we are providing proper nourishment for thousands of starving people in southern Oaxaca.
Giving away bags of food is the first step in the long journey to a bright future. But every journey starts with that first step.
At these fiestas we distribute bags of food staples like rice, beans, oil, and sugar. Every person also receives a hearty meal. There are even activities for the children.
In some cases, families walk through the mountain trails for more than fourteen hours to receive this support and to enjoy the fiesta.

This man’s name is Daniel Ambrosio. His son’s name is Constantino. They live in a remote section of jungle approachable only after an hour of driving on a dirt trail and then 45 minutes of hiking.
They are starving.
When asked what they ate, we were shown how they boil leaves in order to have the sensation of food in their stomachs.
